India Changing: Plastics banned in Delhi
Poster on the shop of a small vegetable vendor - "Please don't make the shopkeepers ashamed of you (and themselves) by asking for polythene bags. Please bring your own bag with you. Bye Bye to Poly-Bag. Help us keep the environment clean."
I came to know about this when I had to carry back vegetables from the shop in my hands and pockets. But it's great to see the change happening in Delhi. Although Delhi Govt. had been planning about this since years, a complete ban on Plastic bags was finally implemented about a month back in Delhi.
But there has been news that many shops are ignoring and still using the plastics openly for daily sales. CNN-IBN also reports that it's the small shopkeepers who have stopped using polythene bags but the big shops in the top ministers’ constituency continue to ignore the order.
